Comparative Study of the Concept of Look East in the Foreign Policy of Iran and India

Abstract

While western countries influenced the world at that time Indian and Iranian officials paid their attention toward the Eastern countries with the initiative Look East Policy and Look to the east policy for more opportunities in political, economic, cultural, geographical, and security aspects after the Cold war. In this article, the author aims to examine the Look East Policy and Look to the east policy of India and Iran, goal and their results for national welfare, security, and scope in economical, political, and security order toward the Eastern countries. To do so, researchers primarily discuss the importance of the Look East Policy in the foreign policy of both India and Iran and discuss why this region comes to the center with full-fledged attention. In addition, they examine India and Iran’s achievements and the structural obstacle they face in the region, and how they attempt to reach their goals and interests over the region. This article includes a discussion of the limitations, challenges, and achievements of the Look East policy.
