The countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus are among the countries in which nation formation has faced many ups and downs, and these countries are still facing various challenges, especially in the geopolitical field. Given that nation formation is a process that is greatly influenced by the historical roots of each country and historical events,, the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, despite being shared in a part of history, have special characteristics. The present article examines the process of nation formation in Central Asia and the Caucasus, with a historical approach to the geopolitical challenges affecting the formation of the nation in this region. The present research is a comparative approach.
The process of nation formation reflects many geopolitical obstacles and challenges.These geopolitical challenges play an essential role in the process of nation formation in the region. The study results showed that due to differences in a social context, historical processes, and geopolitical features, the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus have gone through two more or less different patterns of nation formation. Central Asian countries, in particular, face significant geopolitical challenges in this process.
