The Middle East is considered one of the most influential regions in the global balance of power, and its strategic location makes it of paramount importance to international interests. The Arab region has gained significant importance and a prominent position on the agendas of vital interests for major powers, as well as emerging economies like China and India, due to its global trade and large energy consumption. Therefore, this study seeks to clarify the strategic importance of energy in the Middle East in general, and the Arab region in particular, subject to geopolitical, economic, and security factors. The region is also highly sensitive to major global political shifts, whether related to the rise or fall of superpowers.

This is demonstrated by the study through a discussion of the wars and conflicts the world has witnessed and continues to witness in the struggle for control of this vital resource. The struggle of major powers over it and their competition for access to its sources has driven every country that possesses this resource, especially weaker nations, to become a target.
